Katrina
Another news story that really is not funny.
At first it looked like New Orleans had dodged the worst of Katrina when the hurricane veered slightly to the right (although doing so made the situation worse for Mississippi and Alabama).
Then the levee broke!
Now 80% of New Orleans is underwater. And it's not just a few inches of water either. Homes and businesses are under several FEET of water. And the water is still rising because the levee breaks haven't been repaired yet.
(Note for the clueless, a levee is essentially a dam so when one breaks you get a huge flood.)
